The Protector Season 2: Big Premiere, Big Names

On December 14, 2018, the Netflix Internet platform released its first Turkish-American series The Protector starring Çağatay Ulusoy, Ayça Ayşin Turan, and Hazar Ergüçlü. Despite the small budget compared to the other superheroes series of Netflix, that were developed jointly with the Marvel studio, the project exceeded all expectations of the platform’s management, becoming one of Netflix’s biggest hits in 2018, as the company reported to its investors.  It is noteworthy that the world’s largest financial analytical publications, including Fortune, noted an increase in shares of Internet giant Netflix, including the Turkish The Protector in their analysis of the content strategy of the platform.

Due to such a success, the company has high hopes for the second season of the series, which starts April 26 on Friday. The hopes of Netflix are fully justified. According to the world’s largest database on TV series TV Time, The Protector is the most anticipated Netflix series, that will be released in April. It is among the ten most anticipated TV shows of the world, this is the only Netflix series in the top ten and it is in the top five of the most anticipated serial seasons. It is noteworthy that this prestigious list includes the famous Game of Thrones.

In the new season, a few more big names will be added to the cast that is already familiar to the audience, among them Engin Öztürk, known to the international audience for the TV series What is the fault of Fatmagul, The Magnificent Century, the Ressurection: Ertugrul. He will play the elder brother of Hakan Levent, another Istanbul Defender. It is curious that Engin will work again with Hazar Ergüçlü, with whom he has already played in the TV series High Society.

Another new name in the caste is Boran Kuzum, who gained recognition from the audience after the TV series Wounded Love. He will play one of the Immortals, who was revived by Hakan. The management of Netflix sensitively responded to the great interest of the international audience to the Hilal-Leon pair. Recall that the young actors won the prestigious vote on the site Eonline. As a result, in the second season, we will see not only Boran but also his partner in the series Wounded Love Miray Daner, who will play a guest role. Whether the actress will be part of the third and fourth seasons of the Protector is still unknown, but judging by the interest in her from the main producer of the series Alex Sutherland and the acting coach of Netflix Lori Lively, this possibility is not excluded.

The cast of the new seasons will be announced after the release of the second season of the Protector on April 26. And on April 11, within the Istanbul Film Festival, an open gala premiere of the series will be held with the participation of stars, and the first two series will be shown.
