Another unpleasant news for Disney Plus subscribers. As it turns out, the digital platform has no plans to release series whose filming has already been completed. We have also learned about the fate of the actors who signed contracts with Disney.

Disney Plus, which started operating in Turkey on June 14, 2023, entered into exclusive contracts with leading Turkish stars for astronomical fees. However, in recent months, the platform first halted the production of local content until the end of 2024, and then removed already released series from the catalog.

Renowned journalist Birsen Altuntaş reports on the latest developments surrounding Turkish content on the digital platform Disney Plus. According to her sources, except for the series “Atatürk” starring Aras Bulut İynemli, all other agreements for completed projects may be canceled. Among them are “Numen” starring Halit Ergenç, “El Turco” starring Can Yaman, “Personality” starring Haluk Bilginer, “Ru” starring Meryem Uzerli, “Ayten’s World-Changing Journey” starring Ezgi Mola, and the movie “Immortal World 2.”

Production companies will have the option to buy the license for their projects from Disney Plus and sell them elsewhere. Similarly, actors, writers, and directors who signed agreements with Disney will have the option to cancel contracts or work in series for Disney’s subsidiary company – FOX TV.

According to rumors, the digital platform Gain, acquired by Rams Group, is allegedly interested in Disney’s unreleased content. The platform is now led by the brother of actress Belçim Bilgin, Ferat Bilgin.
