Producer Muzaffer Yıldırım spoke about the film ‘Koca Yusuf’
According to the head of the Mars Entertainment Group holding company, Muzaffer Yıldırım, they have been working on the script for the film about Koca Yusuf for the past 7–8 years. The first draft of the script was written by Turkish authors living in the United States, and then Russell Crowe said that he would either star in the film or produce it himself, so much did he like the story. Then Çağatay Ulusoy joined the project. It turns out that his ancestors lived in the same village where Koca Yusuf was born (they are Bulgarian Turks) and for him this is also a very personal story, there is a spiritual connection with the character.
Çağatay is participating in writing the screenplay for the film as one of the co-authors. In fact, he wrote his own script, and the decision was made by the producers to combine two scripts—one written in the USA and Çağatay’s script. The script is currently undergoing final revision, it is a real biography of a real person.
P.S. It is interesting to know whether the film will be shot in the United States, where the main action of the movie should take place, and who will play the role of William Brady, the founder of modern Hollywood and Koca Yusuf’s agent, since Russell Crowe liked this story so much?
