The series ‘My name is Farah’ is fighting for survival
The series “Tropics,” which debuted on the D channel as one of the ambitious shows of the summer season, concluded with its 14th episode. Despite impressing a wide audience with its unusual plot and dramatic scenes, the project couldn’t maintain high ratings and was canceled.
Although the ratings of the “Tropics” series were not the highest, they were not so low as to justify its premature conclusion. Its performance was comparable to the results of some other series that continue to air.
The second season of the “My Name is Farah / Adım Farah” series, starring Demet Ozdemir and Engin Akyürek, is also going through challenging times. The show, which received high praise from critics for the first season, couldn’t replicate its success in the second.
If the series fails to maintain high ratings, it might also face an early finale. The situation for “My Name is Farah” is extremely complicated, although many point to good international sales, which should guarantee the show’s continuation on air.
However, it’s worth noting that the revenue from sales goes to the production company, not the Fox TV channel. Therefore, the channel’s managers may not rely on this factor. Moreover, the channel is preparing five new shows that will soon be on air, and there are no free prime-time slots on Fox TV. Someone will have to leave the lineup, and it’s quite possible that it will be the series starring Demet Ozdemir and Engin Akyürek.
