Portuguese Adaptation of the Series “Cruel Istanbul”
In May of this year, the Portuguese adaptation of the Turkish series “Cruel Istanbul,” whose international distribution rights are owned by Kanal D International, was announced. The premiere of the adapted version titled “A Promessa” took place on June 18 on the SIC channel.
The adaptation script was developed by Inês Gomes and Cândida Ribeiro. The production was undertaken by SP Televisão. The first episode showed high ratings: the audience share was 27.0%, and the average viewer reach was 13.4%. The project is planned to be developed as a multi-episode telenovela with daily episodes on weekdays.
The original series “Zalim Istanbul,” created by Avşar Film, was broadcast on Kanal D from 2019 to 2020 and consisted of 39 episodes. The directors were Cevdet Mercan, Gökçen Usta, and Şenol Sönmez. The main roles were played by Fikret Kuşkan, Deniz Uğur, Mine Tugay, Ozan Dolunay, Sera Kutlubey, Berker Güven, Simay Barlas, İdris Nebi Taşkan, and Bahar Şahin.
