“Madonna in a Fur Coat” on the big screen — what to expect from the international project?
The plans for the adaptation of the famous novel by Turkish writer Sabahattin Ali, “Madonna in a Fur Coat”, have undergone significant changes. Instead of the initially planned digital series, a full-length feature film will now be produced, bringing together Turkish and German filmmakers.
The project promises to be ambitious: the screenplay is being crafted by Mert Dikmen, with Enes Ateş directing. The production is being handled by a consortium of companies, including the German CAB Film, known for its work on the Netflix series “German Genius”. The meticulously prepared shooting, which has been in the works for a year, will take place in both Turkey and Germany, including the renowned Babelsberg Studio.
The film’s premiere is scheduled for 2025, highlighting the creators’ serious commitment and the scale of the production. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that the actors playing the lead roles of Raif and Maria Puder have not yet been announced, leaving room for speculation and anticipation among fans of the novel and cinema alike.
