Demet Evgar as Afife Jale: What Makes This Play So Special?
A play dedicated to the life of Afife Jale, a pioneer of Turkish theatre, opened the new theatrical season on September 14 at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell stage.
The leading role was performed by Demet Evgar, with Nejat Memili as her co-star, and the play was directed by Serdar Biliş. Sponsored by Kia, the production will run throughout the season.
The premiere generated great interest, with tickets selling out immediately after the announcement. Among the attendees were prominent cultural figures, including Haldun Dormen, Cem Yılmaz, Serkan Keskin, and others.
The play presents a fictional narrative based on the biography of Afife Jale, who became a symbol for many generations of theatre lovers and women.
At the end of the premiere, the cast received prolonged applause.
