Ratings of Turkish TV

The series “The Nightfall (Bir Gece Masalı)” lost 0.77% in total viewership but gained 0.24% in the AB demographic. The show continues to hold the top spot on Tuesday, though with the appearance of competitors, its audience size has slightly diminished, which, however, was to be expected. The Turkish audience still has no issue with formulaic stories and a parade of clichés, as long as they are presented beautifully and performed with talent. The screenwriters have found the key to the viewers’ hearts and are not planning to lose ground.

The series “Bahar” lost 1.11% in total viewership and 1.24% in the AB demographic. So far, the second season seems rather disappointing, especially compared to the strong first season. This reflects the classic flaw of Turkish dramas—once the screenwriters start creating something original, the story begins to go in circles, and interest wanes. One can only hope that the creators of the project will find the strength to break this cycle, which leads only to declining ratings.

The series “Mehmed the Conqueror (Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı)” lost 0.41% in total viewership but gained 0.17% in the AB demographic. Overall, the educated audience has responded quite favorably to the state channel’s show, while the general viewer remains somewhat skeptical. However, everything could change, as the state channel allows its projects to remain on air comfortably, without fear of ratings.
