Deniz Baysal Prepares to Portray a Renowned Screenwriter
Deniz Baysal, who recently appeared in the series “Counterfeiter,” is now set to star in the upcoming project “Adventure of the Soul.” This new series will depict the life of Ayşe Şasa, one of the first female screenwriters in Turkish cinema. Deniz will take on the lead role.
The series shares its title with a book written by Ayşe Şasa. Comprising ten episodes, it will be produced for the TRT Tabii platform by Harmony Yapım, with Osman Nail Doğan directing. Filming will take place in Istanbul. Osman Sonant has been proposed for the role of Ayşe Şasa’s second husband, director Atıf Yılmaz. Casting is still underway, and shooting is expected to begin in early February.
Ayşe Şasa was born in 1941 in Istanbul. Her screenwriting career began in 1963 with the film “The Frivolous Girl.” A graduate of Robert College, she penned the scripts for iconic films such as “Ah, Beautiful Istanbul” (1966), “The Last Birds,” “Shame,” “Gramophone Woman,” and “Cemo.” In 2013, she received the Honorary Cinema Award at the Istanbul Film Festival for her contributions to Turkish cinema. Ayşe Şasa endured a challenging period of mental health struggles from age 30 to 48 but overcame it through her exploration of Sufism.
