Burak Berkay Akgül in “Orphans”: How Will His Character Change the Plot?
The popular series “Orphans” (Sahipsizler), produced by OGM Pictures, faced regulatory restrictions. The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) issued a double suspension order for the series due to violent scenes, accompanied by an administrative fine of 3%.
Similar sanctions were previously applied to the series “Wild Heart” and “Genius.”
In line with the regulator’s decision, starting January 8, the series’ time slot is being filled with documentaries approved by RTÜK. Regular broadcasting of “Orphans” will resume after the sanction period, with the new episode premiering on January 15.
The production team, led by director Cem Karcı, is using the forced break to expand the cast. Burak Berkay Akgül, who gained recognition after his successful role in the series “Ru,” has joined the project. The actor will portray a new key character, Devran, whose storyline will begin in Mardin and later shift to Istanbul.
According to Birsen Altuntaş, Devran’s character will develop closely with Azize (played by Hazal Subaşı), promising significant changes to the narrative dynamics. Filming of new episodes featuring Akgül will begin this weekend in Mardin.
