Famous filmmaker sentenced to 10 years in prison

Hakan Sur, who worked as production designer for TV shows like Leyla and Macnun, Magnificent Century, Tide, Heartbeat, The girl named Feriha, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape. The District Court upheld the judgment of the first instance court. The defendant’s lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court, arguing that the sexual contact took place by agreement of the parties – the girl came to the defendant’s home after drinking alcohol in a restaurant.
