Sultan Saladin: the new Turkish-Pakistani TV show
Producer Emre Konuk announces that Akli Film has signed a contract with Pakistani Ansari Shah Film to shoot the new TV series Sultan Saladin / Sultan Selahaddin Ayyubi. The TV show will tell about the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, the Sultan of Egypt and Syria.
The sultan Salah ad-Din was known as the implacable enemy of the crusaders and assassins. After the capture of Jerusalem and the return of this city to Muslims, he became a cult figure throughout the Middle East and Southeast Asia. At the same time, Saladin (as European sources called him) managed to establish contacts with Europeans and even made friends by correspondence with King Richard the Lion heart. Both rulers, who met only once, granted benefits to each other’s subjects. In addition, Saladin guaranteed immunity to Christian pilgrims visiting Jerusalem.
In the history of the East, Salah ad-Din remained a conqueror who stopped the invasion of the West and turned the forces of Islam to Europe, a hero who united Muslims and who embodied the highest ideals and virtues of Islam in his personality. Salah ad-Din, the main enemy of the crusaders, still enjoyed great respect in Christian Europe for his knightly qualities: bravery in battle and generosity to the defeated enemy.
It is not yet known who will play the role of the legendary sultan. Producer Emre Konuk known for the TV series Awakening: The Great Seljuks and Alp Arslan noted Pakistani stars Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui among the actors who will be involved in the project.
