The already dubious Golden Butterfly awards ceremony received another scandal. The famous stars, one by one, give up the nominations, and it all looks very ugly.

Every year, the Golden Butterfly ceremony causes more and more controversy. It got to the point that the statuette’s prestige has plummeted in recent years, it has been criticized by everyone, including the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and receiving the once prestigious award is becoming less and less desirable among Turkish stars.

This year, the scandal erupted before the start of the ceremony, scheduled for December. A number of respected stars of the older generation, including Vahide Perçin, Sumru Yavrucuk, Bennu Yildirimlar, Işıl Yücesoy, Nazan Kesal, Çağan Irmak, announced their rejection of the nomination for the “Golden Butterfly” award, as the choice of the winner, in their opinion, is unfair.
