The Turkish TV industry does not rest a single day, trying to give its viewers as many TV shows as possible. What are the results of Turkish television by the end of 2022?
In 2022, 72 TV series were released on Turkish screens. If digital projects are included in the list, the number of series will increase to 114. During the year, 45 new shows started on television, 41 shows made the final.
The top 10 most popular TV series in Turkey in 2022 are as follows:
10. The Prisoner / Mahkum (average rating: 6.37%).
The Prisoner, which is a remake of the hit Korean drama, climbed up to 10% in the ratings at the beginning of 2022 and performed well in its first season. However, as soon as the Korean story was over, the Turkish writers were unable to offer anything original that would attract the audience. The decision was made to cancel the series due to low ratings in the second season.
9. Forbidden Fruit / Yasak Elma (average rating: 6.45%).
For six years in a row, the phenomenon of Turkish air, the series of producer Fatih Aksoy continues to be in the top of the most popular TV series in Turkey. In the first months of the new year, it rose again to 8% in the ratings and held the bar high with 34 episodes airing in 2022. According to the producer, his show will still make the final in June 2023.
8. I can’t fit into this world / Ben Bu Cihana Sığmazam (average rating: 6.71%).
The new series starring Oktay Kaynarca had the most successful opening of the season, starting with excellent results in the ratings. However, this was followed by a decline, which, however, was insignificant and allowed the show to take place in the top 10 most popular series in Turkey last year.
7. Chrysalis / Camdaki Kız (average rating: 7.06%).
The popular OGM Pictures show continues to hold the attention of viewers in the 3rd season. In March, its rating rose to 9%. A total of 37 episodes were broadcast, which still attract a large audience.
6. Intelligence / Teşkilat (average rating: 7.48%).
The series of the TV channel TRT1 changed the main character last season. Murat Yıldırım became the star of the series instead of Cağlar Ertuğrul. It further increased interest in the show on the state TV channel, which rose to 9% in the ratings.
5. Alparslan: The Great Seljuks / Alparslan Büyük Selçuklu (average rating: 7.94%).

Moreover, it is successfully sold abroad and has a Greek remake. In 2022, 35 episodes were released, which received high ratings, especially from an educated and wealthy viewers (AB rating).
3. The Ottoman / Kuruluş Osman (average rating: 9.60%).
A true phenomenon of the Turkish screen, the series by producer Mehmet Bozdağ has been at the top of the Turkish ratings for the fourth year in a row. In 2022, 33 episodes were released. Some had ratings above 13%. The only question that fans of the historical show are asking is whether it will have 5 seasons, as promised, or whether the channel and the producer will decide to renew the series for the sixth season.
2. Golden Boy / Yalı Çapkını (average rating: 10.49%).
The OGM Pictures series made a rather modest start in the fall, but quickly became a real phenomenon, setting a record in the ratings of 2022:

In total, 15 episodes were released and literally one episode was not enough for the show to reach the first place. However, it is possible that in 2023 the Golden Boy will still become the best TV show in Turkey. Unless, of course, an even more popular show does not appear.

At the top of the Turkish ratings is the TV show that is not in great demand outside of Turkey, as it is intended primarily for the average Turkish audience. The series of the state TV channel copes with its task perfectly. For a long time, the ratings of 35 episodes that were released in 2022 did not fall below 10%.
However, the most rated program in Turkey in 2022 was not the TV show, but the final of the World Cup between the teams of France and Argentina:
