After the devastating earthquake of 6 February that shook Turkey, many Turkish film producers quickly responded to requests for aid and sent funds to help the victims.

The film industry workers’ union demanded that the production companies urgently send the equipment at their disposal to the disaster area. We remind you that the production companies in Turkey have a significant fleet of trailers, generators, lighting fixtures, and other equipment that is needed right now in the areas affected by the disaster.

The President of the Television and Film Producers’ Union, Timur Savci, said that he is in constant contact with the management of the state organization AFAD and the Haluk Levent Foundation AHBAP. Now, work is being organized to deliver generators, trailers, and food aid to the disaster zone. There is a very serious problem with the logistics; trucks with humanitarian aid are stuck on the roads. The main thing now is the coordination of efforts so that help reaches those to whom it is intended.

The Association of Television and Film Producers released a statement stating that its members have taken a break from filming movies and television shows to help those affected. Almost all the leading production companies in the country have ceased filming, and television channels will not be broadcasting series this week.

Some have decided to go even further; thus, the film crew of the TV series “Cranberry Sherbet”, along with the necessary equipment, went to Hatay to help the victims of the earthquake. Director Hakan Ketçe said that, together with other representatives of the Turkish film industry, they had assembled a convoy of 100 film caravans.
