Difficulties of dubbing Turkish TV shows
According to the well-known journalist Sina Kologlu, dubbing Turkish TV shows for the Latin American market is not an easy task. However, Universal Cinergia, a company that entered this market in 2012 and owns approximately 80% of the dubbing market, successfully handles the task and finds common ground with Turkish companies.
As company representatives admit, the biggest challenge in this work is to find suitable words that match the movements of the actors’ mouths on the screen. To do this, the company assigns three people to each character in each episode to dub the dialogue.
For example, dubbing the TV show “My Daughter” took seven months. In addition, the company provides support to its clients and translates Turkish content into Spanish. Working on 5 episodes per week is a common practice, with special attention paid to the quality of the translation.
