Bergen filmmakers sued

According to the Hürriyet publication, the writer Sema Kaygusuz and screenwriter Yıldız Bayazıt have filed a lawsuit against the producer Mine Şengöz and Orkestra Yapım company, claiming that they violated their financial and moral rights by presenting themselves as the authors of the screenplay for the film “Bergen” when they were not. Kaygusuz and Bayazıt stated that they are the true authors of the screenplay for “Bergen” and are demanding protection of their rights.

According to the lawsuit filed in the Istanbul Intellectual and Industrial Property Court, the film “Bergen,” which tells the story of the singer Bergen’s life, was released in March 2022. The plaintiffs allege that producer Mine Şengöz and Orkestra Yapım presented themselves as the authors of the screenplay and dialogue for the film “Bergen,” when they were not. The lawsuit claims that Mine Şengöz and Orkestra Yapım committed the crime of forging documents by inserting their own names into contracts as authors of the screenplay and dialogue.
