How did Çağatay Ulusoy prepare for his role in the series “The Tailor”?
Çağatay Ulusoy is known as one of the most successful Turkish actors. His simple formula for success is to give his roles his all-out effort. The TV show “The Tailor” was no exception.
According to the well-known journalist Sina Koloğlu, Çağatay Ulusoy, as always, prepared meticulously for his role as Peyami Dokumacı in the series “The Tailor”. Rumor has it that the first thing he acquired was a Singer sewing machine (by the way, a very similar machine had once belonged to the journalist’s grandmother). It was brought to Çağatay’s house, and he started working with it one and a half months before the filming began. He studied the art of sewing to avoid looking like an amateur on screen.
During the filming, Çağatay was accompanied by two experienced tailors who helped him create the character’s image, including cutting, stitching, measuring fabrics, and other details before and during the shooting. As the members of the production team confessed, the actor is very hardworking and quickly grasps the details.
An important detail is a scene in which he plays the traditional musical instrument “Ney” (a longitudinal flute) in the last episode. Çağatay preferred not to use a pre-recorded track and spent a month practicing the instrument to perform the composition.
Sina Koloğlu also reminds that the show has completed three seasons within 8 months. Currently, post-production is underway for the second and third seasons.
