Birsen Altuntaş won a lawsuit against her former employer
Birsen Altuntaş posted the following message on her social media accounts: “For approximately 4 years, I worked as the chief editor of entertainment news at the tv100 channel. On Sunday, they aired an advertisement for a program called ‘Elections,’ built on the basis of rights, legality, and justice. Unfortunately, it turned out that the management has no understanding of rights, legality, especially women’s rights, and the work of journalists! Despite knowing that the information in my article was accurate, they unjustifiably terminated my contract in just one day. And that’s not all, in this difficult economic crisis, in an inflationary environment, they failed to pay me all my rightful dues, including the lawful ‘severance pay’…
The channel, which profited hundreds of times more from my work than it should have, primarily through social media platforms, especially YouTube, underestimated my work. Throughout this time, I had to endure the pain of a legal process to defend my lawful rights, and this morning, my first case ended in my favor. I am grateful to my lawyer, Volkan Alkylıç.
In this regard, I want to emphasize that despite my significant contribution to the promotion of the channel with thousands of exclusive news articles, tv100 has been unable to provide objective reasons and unlawfully refuses to compensate me. In fact, this is not just my situation… I have other cases related to other unlawful and unjust actions. My biggest dream is for all workers, women, and press workers to stand up for their lawful rights in the new Turkey. I hope we will hear good news about the restoration of the rights of the oppressed and compensation for the damage inflicted upon them…”
