RTÜK has set its “red lines”
The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Radio and Television (RTÜK), Ebubekir Şahin, has published RTÜK’s “red lines” regarding digital platforms. In his statement on social media, Şahin stated:
“Programs that insult the institution of the family, attack our spiritual and cultural values, contain immoral relationships, pose a threat to public health, insult our religious values in comedic programs, and broadcast content directed against our state, president, and the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, are unacceptable.”
Thus, the state censor has made it clear that the government’s policy regarding content on digital platforms will be tightened. If Disney Plus decides to remove a previously aired series about Atatürk, it will be considered an insult to Turkey. It is worth noting that the platform has already reassured that the premiere of the series will take place as scheduled.
