Shift in accents in the series “Cranberry Sherbet”
The Series “Cranberry Sherbet / Kızılcık Şerbeti” was initially conceived as a story about people from different worlds who, despite their initial differences, shared similar values and beliefs. However, starting from the second season, the focus of the series gradually shifts towards relationships between men and women.
In the first season, the series focused on how the conservative and traditional Kıvılcım family and the modern and open-minded Ömer family tried to find common ground. Despite all their differences, they discovered they had much in common and began learning from each other.
In the second season, the relationships between Kıvılcım and Ömer continue to develop, but the series also highlights the relationships between Doğa and Fatih, as well as Nursema and Umut. The rivalry between Alev and Pembе over Abdullah also becomes one of the central conflicts in the series.
This trend was also noted by television critic Sina Koloğlu. He observes that the original plot, centered around the idea of bringing together different life perspectives, gives way to new narrative accents.
Thus, the initial concept based on the possibility of coexistence between conservative and worldly families gradually fades from the project’s storyline.
