Onur Güvenatam wants to win an “Oscar”
OGM Pictures is one of Turkey’s leading film companies, behind successful series like “Golden Boy,” “Red Room,” “My Home My Destiny,” “Chrysalis,” and “Innocents’ Apartment.” However, not all recent series of producer Onur Güvenatam have been successful. For instance, the series “Hide Me” will end after its 26th episode due to low ratings, and the series “The Next Room” has been taken off the air.
In an interview with the newspaper Oksijen, Onur Güvenatam responded to whether he believes that series based on the scripts by Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu have lost their relevance. “I will answer very frankly: I have always heard whispers and always listened to those whispers. The voice spoke to me about something related to society. We have succeeded thanks to this whisper. But in these two series, I did not hear that voice. Now, I am focusing on that voice again, continuing my path from where I know. When there is failure, I cannot blame Ali, who could not act, or Fatma, who could not write; if they couldn’t handle it, I would replace them. This is my failure, but success belongs to everyone,” said the producer, who also admitted that his main dream is to bring the first Oscar to Turkey. Someday, he is determined to achieve this.
