Turkish TV Channels Shift to Pilot Episodes
This news, which requires confirmation but appears quite convincing, could revolutionize the entire series production in Turkey. Due to the difficult economic situation, Turkish TV channels have decided to adopt the practice of airing pilot episodes, which is common worldwide, but with a Turkish twist.
Production companies are being commissioned to create the first 4 episodes of a series with a complete storyline. The series is broadcast for a month. If it shows good results, the contract is extended for a certain number of episodes (depending on the star power of the cast and the results shown). If the results do not satisfy the channel, the series is taken off the air and immediately replaced by another.
In light of this new content policy, companies are pulling out all their previous developments that were shelved for various reasons. There will also be many series that are adaptations of literary works.
Currently, the number of series orders by TV channels is as follows:
👉 NOW TV channel has ordered 35 series
👉 Kanal D has ordered 21 or 22 series
👉 ATV has ordered 20 series
👉 Show TV has ordered 17 series
👉 Star TV has ordered 6 or 7 series produced by OGM Pictures
👉 TRT1 has ordered 5 new series (rumors suggest negotiations for additional orders are ongoing)
👉 TV8 has ordered 2 series
This shift to pilot episodes could significantly change the landscape of Turkish television production, allowing for more diverse content and potentially reducing financial risks for channels. However, it’s important to note that this information still needs official confirmation.
