Scandal surrounding the film “Paper Lives”: Çağatay Ulusoy emerges victorious!
Turkish media reports that the court has ruled in favor of Çağatay Ulusoy, who was one of the producers of the Netflix film “Paper Lives.”
The film, starring Çağatay Ulusoy, Emir Ali Doğrul, and Ersin Arıcı, became the subject of a legal dispute. Director Temel Arda Karslı filed a lawsuit demanding 20,000 Turkish liras against screenwriter Ercan Mehmet Erdem, the production company OGM, Los Gatos Turkey, and Netflix, which streamed the film. He claimed that the film “Paper Lives,” released on Netflix in 2021, bore similarities to his own movie “Black,” whose trailer had been published on YouTube three years earlier.
Karslı sought compensation and demanded that the film be removed from the platform, asserting that his work had been used unlawfully. However, after reviewing all the evidence and documents, the court concluded that there was no similarity between “Paper Lives” and “Black,” ruling out any plagiarism. As a result, the lawsuit was dismissed.
