Shocking Details: How a Role in the Series “Lie” Pushed Aslıhan Güner to the Brink
Aslıhan Güner, who plays the lead role in the series “Lie,” gave an interview to journalists after a shopping trip at Metropol Istanbul mall. The actress shared her thoughts on playing Melike, describing it as one of the most challenging roles of her career.
Aslıhan recounted a tense moment during filming when she felt unwell after a courtroom scene. Despite receiving medical attention and being hospitalized with two IV drips, the actress was able to recover and attend her makeup artist’s wedding as a witness.
The actress emphasized her approach to her profession, noting that external beauty is not the main criterion. Having begun her career at the age of 16, she has always sought out roles that require transformation. For the role of Melike, who had served 20 years in prison, she even filmed scenes without makeup to portray the character’s exhaustion.
A special place in Güner’s career is her portrayal of Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of Atatürk. At the time of filming, the actress was 35 years old, yet she took on the role of a 68-year-old woman. She thoroughly studied Zübeyde Hanım’s biography, striving to convey not only her appearance but also her physical condition.
Aslıhan revealed that during and after filming, she experienced real joint pain while imitating Zübeyde Hanım’s health problems. This led to her undergoing eight sessions of physiotherapy after the project’s completion. The actress stressed that she considers this role a great honor and takes pride in having had the opportunity to portray Atatürk’s mother.
