The Antimonopoly Authority is unveiling the behind-the-scenes workings of Turkish TV series
In August, the Turkish television industry faced a major shock when the Antimonopoly Authority initiated an investigation into the sales of TV series. Representatives from the authority visited several major production and digital distribution companies, seizing data from their computers and phones. All companies and TV channels involved in the production of series were required to provide detailed information.
The investigation aims to prevent monopolization in the sale of series on both domestic and international markets, as well as in the management of digital revenues. Special attention is being given to transactions from 2019 to 2024, including contracts with actors. Thousands of pages of agreements and financial reports will be examined. The results of this investigation are drawing significant interest within the industry.
