Turkish social media has been abuzz with discussions surrounding an article by Fuat Uğur, which sheds light on the workings of Turkish showbiz amidst an ongoing investigation by the Antimonopoly Committee.

In his article, Uğur claims:

“There are a few prominent names in this industry who keep it under their control. The most influential among them is a businesswoman who promotes untalented and mediocre women as actresses, acting as their patron. Her influence is so great that she managed to convince digital platforms to order a third season of a series with nearly zero viewership. She even fabricated a relationship between one of these women and a gay singer, later extorting $5 million from the singer’s businessman boyfriend (allegedly to protect his image).

She controls many actors as well. For example, when a production company wants to hire one of her actors, she agrees only on the condition that five of her other clients are also cast. Simply put, no actor who refuses to fall under her influence can survive in this industry. If anyone dares to oppose her, she is ruthless enough to erase them from the sector entirely.

Now, as the Antimonopoly Committee has raided her company, she is in a state of panic, reaching out to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture for help. It is said that she even sought support from a prominent businessman whose actress girlfriend once had an abortion. However, the businessman reportedly refused outright, saying, ‘Don’t drag me into this.’

Now, faced with uncertainty, she is considering fleeing the country.”

These allegations have sparked a fierce debate online, with many questioning the extent of power held by key figures in the entertainment industry and the ethics of their practices. The Antimonopoly Committee’s investigation could potentially reshape the future of Turkish showbiz.
