Ratings of Turkish TV
The series “The Ottoman (Kuruluş Osman)” increased by 1.16% in Total but lost 0.01% in AB. Producer Mehmet Bozdağ’s show remains one of the most sought-after historical dramas in Turkey for six years running and is heading toward a finale scheduled for June of this year with excellent results. Whether the story will continue immediately this fall with the new lead character, Sultan Orhan, or if the producer will take a year-long break remains unknown.
The series “Orphans (Sahipsizler)” lost 0.32% in Total but grew by 0.25% in AB. The average viewer continues to enjoy watching this story, although it does not resonate much with educated and affluent audiences. However, with these Total ratings, that doesn’t really matter; producer Onur Güvenatam’s show will comfortably reach the end of the season and will likely be renewed for the next one.
The series “Leyla” lost 1.49% in Total and 0.98% in AB. The decline is significant and painful, yet the show has a substantial margin of safety, allowing it to easily withstand the drop in viewership—especially given that last week’s boost was linked to the absence of competing programs. The series has simply returned to its usual ratings level and remains on solid ground.
The series “Scent of the Trunk (Sandık Kokusu)” grew by 0.02% in Total but lost 0.05% in AB. This show has a small yet very stable audience, enabling it to stay on the air despite modest rating numbers. Good international sales and Show TV’s generally laid-back policy—allowing its series to run through to a finale even if ratings are not particularly high—also contribute to its stability.
The series “My Mother Ankara (Annem Ankara)” lost 1.04% in Total and 1.13% in AB. Despite its star-studded cast, this Kanal D production has not sparked much interest among Turkish viewers. With ratings like these, it is likely that a decision regarding its cancellation may arise in the near future.
