Ratings of Turkish TV
The series “Orphans” (Sahipsizler) lost 1.58% in Total and 1.29% in AB. This is a notable decline, but it has little to do with the show itself. Yesterday marked Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Destiny—one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar, traditionally spent in prayer. At the same time, secular viewers staged a boycott of TV channels in protest of their failure to broadcast demonstrations against President Erdoğan. As a result, nearly all series saw a drop in ratings.
The series “The Ottoman” (Kuruluş Osman) lost 1.58% in Total and 1.18% in AB. Again, the decline is not related to the content of the show, which is already preparing for its seventh season. Burak Özçivit will continue in the lead role, and the series will undergo a major cast renewal.
The series “Leyla” (Leyla) lost 0.19% in Total but grew by 0.52% in AB. Given the challenging environment for television viewership this week, the rise in AB is a promising sign.
The series “Eşref’s Dream” (Eşref Rüya) lost 0.11% in Total but rose by 0.75% in AB. Producer Timur Savcı’s project climbed to the top of the two most advertiser-critical demographics—AB and ABC1. If the upward trend continues, there’s no reason to worry about the show being cancelled.
