Why is Turkey not taking part in the Eurovision contest?
As is known, Turkey does not broadcast the annual Eurovision Song Contest and does not take part in it. As the general director of the state television channel TRT1, Ibrahim Eren, explained, they don’t plan to participate in the competition, where decisions are made on the basis of political sympathy, and not the talent of the participants. Voting is based on the principle “which country and which political leader is more attractive” and not who is more worthy.
In addition, the competition show time is 21:00 that implies censorship, since there are still children in front of the screens. And it is impossible for the state channel to show them either their uncle or aunt is dancing in a dress, this is contrary to his policy.
