Fans of the just-released Netflix series Atiye / The Gift are interested in whether the project could compete with the first Turkish Netflix series Hakan Muhafiz / The Protector with an international audience. And we already seem to have received the answer.
The Netflix series Atiye / The Gift received high marks from the Turkish audience and caused a lot of enthusiasm in Turkey’s social networks. But how did they perceive the project outside of Turkey? Judging by the IMDB ratings, it’s quite warmly, but without the enthusiasm that accompanied the start of the series The Protector.
As expected, interest in the series and its actors in the international movie database IMDB has grown compared to last week.
According to the results of the first 10 days on the platform, Atiye / The Gift took the 46th place among the most wanted TV shows in the world. The Protector took the 3rd position a year ago. The number of votes and the overall rating of voters are as follows:
The rating of The Protector for the first three days in the database is higher:
- Atiye / The Gift – 8.1 / 10 with 3,204 votes.
- The Protector – 8.5 / 10 with 5443 votes.
The rating of two series for the first 10 days in the database is the same, however, almost twice as many users voted for The Protector:
- Atiye / The Gift – 7.9 / 10 with 7,326 votes.
- The Protector – 7.9 / 10 with 14422 votes.
Note that a year ago a company was launched in the Turkish media against the Netflix series. Milliyet magazine explicitly urged not to put high scores on the series The Protector on the IMDB website in order to support the “domestic production” against a foreign Internet platform. Atiye / The Gift was more fortunate, for the year the press put up with the inevitable and began to enjoy the process.
Of particular interest are the positions of the leading actors of the new Netflix project. Without any surprises, they took leading places among Turkish stars, however, here they could not get ahead of the results of the actors of the series The Protector a year ago. The list of the most wanted actors in the IMDB database this week was headed by Melisa Şenolsun, which is quite curious, given that Beren Saat is officially the star of the project. The rating of the best Turkish actors of the base on January 6 is as follows:

The final result of the tacit competition of the two Netflix projects can be done in a week. Note that despite the enthusiasm in Turkey, the project stayed only a day in the popular category in the USA and France on the digital platform. Information about whether the project is in the tops of Latin America and the Middle East has not been received. If the audience is interested in the series, then next week we will see its further growth in the IMDB database. As we can see, the actors of the series The Protector are still in the top ten.
The further fate of Atiye / The Gift series is not entirely clear defined. We remind you that the decision to renew The Protector for the third and fourth seasons was taken two weeks after the release of the first season of the series, so the fate of Atiye / The Gift will be decided most likely next week. In any case, the second season of the series has already been shot and the audience will either have a logical conclusion to the story or its continuation in the 3rd and 4th seasons.
