The Turkish TV industry is rapidly integrating into the global television market. Hollywood’s actors (Russell Crowe, Andy Garcia) star in the Turkish Disney Plus series, and Oscar-winning directors shoot a TV show in Turkey with Turkish actors.

According to Habertürk journalist Kadir Kaymakçı, director David Fincher, who is familiar to viewers from the films Alien 3, Seven, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, Mindhunters and House of Cards, is preparing a new project in the detective genre, which will be filmed in Istanbul with Turkish actors.

So far, the details have not been disclosed, but apparently we are talking about the series “Turkish Detective” by Viacom and Miramax. The plot is based on the novels of the famous English writer Barbara Nadel about the adventures of detective Cetin Ikmen and his partner Mehmet Suleyman. David Fincher has already been to Turkey to see the filming locations. He also met with the lead actor, who has already been selected. This is a very famous Turkish actor who has worked with foreign partners in international projects. The journalist tried to call the star, but they did not talk to him, so he would not write the name.

In addition to Turkish, English-speaking stars will also be involved in the series. Casting for the roles among Turkish actors has already been carried out, and those who speak English well have been selected. Now the director has returned to the United States, and in April he will again arrive in Istanbul for filming. He will shoot 2 episodes of the series in 7 weeks, determine the concept and style, after which other Turkish and foreign directors will take the director’s chair (this is a common practice for the production of shows). The journalist nevertheless reminds that at the last moment everything can change. Let’s wait until filming starts.

According to the journalist Ranini, the second director of the series “Turkish Detective” will be Niels Arden Oplev, known for such series as Vikings: Valhalla, Mr. Robot, Under the Dome, as well as the film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

It is assumed that the project is being prepared for the opening of the HBO Max platform in Turkey, but so far no statements have been made in this regard. Of course, the main intrigue is who will play the main roles in the project: detective Ikmen and his partner. The names of Ilker Kaleli, Tamer Karadagli, Alp Navruz are mentioned, but there is no official information.
