Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ instead of İbrahim Çelikkol?
Great news for the fans of Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ! It looks like the famous Turkish actor will return to the screens with a new show, which is a remake of the most popular American TV series, The Sopranos.
The hottest topic of discussion in Turkish social networks and the press was the refusal of Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ to star in the series “If the King Loses”. Some journalists claimed that the actor did not like the script, or he decided not to work in series where there is violence against women. Others suggested that he demanded 1.5 million Turkish lira per episode, which was an unbearable amount for producer Onur Güvenatam. Another version said that Kıvanç simply did not want to return to television, where the filming conditions were rather difficult.
However, according to well-known journalist Birsen Altuntas, Kıvanç was quite satisfied with the remuneration offered by the producer of OGM Pictures. It included not only payment for each episode of the series, but also interest from the sale of the show abroad. The reason for the actor’s refusal is much more prosaic. The scriptwriters delayed the preparation of the show so much that the famous actor simply did not receive the script. Recall that it has been written for three years and, it seems, has not been completed. Kıvanç does not intend to wait another year for the script to be completed, and wants to return to filming as soon as possible.
As soon as it became known about Kıvanç’s intention to return to television, a stream of offers immediately fell upon him. He is currently in talks with Ay Yapim to star in the series ‘Family’, which is an adaptation of the cult American TV series The Sopranos. As it turned out, it was Kıvanç who was the first candidate for the role of the main character Aslan. After his refusal, producer Kerem Çatay turned to İbrahim Çelikkol. However, the cast did not suit the producer, and he decided to postpone the shooting. As soon as Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was available for the work again, the producer returned to the preparation of the series again. So far, Canan Ergüder, Yurdaer Okur and Emel Göksu have been approved for the cast.
