Meryem Uzerli, who played Hurrem Sultan in the TV show “Magnificent Century,” became a celebrity among millions of fans after its premiere. Although it was expected that she would have a successful career, her star rapidly faded. It’s interesting to note that she has more fans outside of Turkey. So, why do Turkish TV series fans not love her?

Reason 1: Her unexpected departure from the TV series “Magnificent Century” shocked fans. Even though the actress may have had solid reasons for doing so, her admirers were terribly upset by the manner in which she did it – running away in the middle of the night – and have not been able to forgive her.

Reason 2. Despite being a secular nation, Turkey’s conservative segment of the society seems to be against single moms. Meryem, a woman with two daughters but no spouse, has acknowledged that her way of life has drawn criticism from her compatriots.

Reason 3. Meryem Uzerli was unable to carry on her great career after leaving “Magnificent Century,” despite her popularity in the role of Hurrem. Several viewers and critics assert that she lacks genuine acting talent as the reason for this. She was excellent in her role, but other roles were where her acting fell short.

Yet, the actress is still actively employed in the entertainment industry and is constantly being approached for new roles. She continues to be one of the most well-known actresses in Turkey and internationally, despite criticism from some fans and reviewers. She now has a starring role in the brand-new digital series “Ru” for Disney Plus.
