Seda Bakan: ‘I can’t recover from stress’
Seda Bakan was recently spotted shopping in one of the stores in Istanbul. The actress admitted feeling bad about the tragedy in Kahramanmaraş, saying, “I haven’t recovered yet. Nobody can recover. Because we are under a great psychological stress. People there live in such conditions, they have lost their loved ones, children, mothers. I react emotionally when I think about it. I was in Düzce during the earthquake in 1999. We also suffered a lot. Even my school was destroyed. I know what an earthquake is. Although those who do not know this, also felt its impact.”
The actress also admitted that they are taking measures to protect themselves from earthquakes: “Our house is not very old, but we try to take all necessary measures. We held a meeting in our building. We looked at the reports in the local administration. We looked at examples of how other buildings are strengthened. Everything seems prepared for earthquakes, but we never know for sure. We only know that we live in a good house.”
Seda talked about going through a difficult time: “I can’t sleep at night. There are whistles everywhere, the lights are on. We keep bottles of water on the edge of the bed. My eldest daughter Leyla understands everything too. Although we don’t show her, she constantly asks questions and is interested. She also made her little contribution to protecting the house.”
When asked about her opinion on adopting children who have lost their parents, she replied, “I am a member of an association that helps children. I also visit them. Adopting children is not easy. It’s a complicated issue. Let those who wish and can take care of the children, adopt them. It’s a great virtue.”
