The prosecutor has demanded imprisonment for Hazal Kaya

The prosecution has prepared an indictment against Hazal Kaya for “public insult through the use of audio, written or video messages” on social media because of her support of actress Ezgi Mola, who was found guilty of insulting Musa Orhan, accused of sexual assault on Ipek Er, who committed suicide after writing a letter accusing Orhan of rape.

The case against Orhan, who is accused of “high-level sexual violence,” is ongoing. The parties have not reached an agreement to settle the dispute. Orhan’s lawyer, Mehmet Erkan Akkus, said that “insults and lynching on social media will lead to nothing.” The prosecution is demanding imprisonment for 2 years and 4 months for the actress.

In her defense, Hazal Kaya pointed out that Musa Orhan was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for “sexual violence” by the 1st High Criminal Court of Siirt, and that this sentence was upheld by the appellate court. She did not say anything that was not written in the court verdict. However, Orhan, who was found guilty, is still free, which is causing outrage among the public.
