Will Burak Deniz go to prison?
Shocking news for Burak Deniz’s fans! The prosecutor’s office has issued an indictment in his case, and the actor faces 7 years in prison. But is it really that serious?
The Adana prosecutor’s office has decided to initiate a criminal case against Burak Deniz on charges of insulting Nilperi Şahinkaya and Necmi Deniz and attempting to cause them bodily harm. The case will be heard in the court of first instance. The requested sentence for the defendant is 7 years and 2 months in prison. Burak will not face charges of disturbing the peace and endangering others, and he did not receive an indictment on these charges.
As a reminder, a year ago, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, Burak insulted his colleague Nilperi Şahinkaya and attacked her companion with his fists at a hotel in Adana. The situation worsened when the next day, on the advice of his manager, Burak did not apologize for his actions, further offending the woman who filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office. Delayed apologies a few days later meant little.
It should be noted that Turkish prosecutors always demand the maximum possible sentences for the accused, but judges do not necessarily follow the prosecutor’s opinion. Since no one was harmed, Burak is likely to receive a symbolic fine.
