Can Yaman accused of assaulting Italian shop owner
Bad news for Can Yaman fans. The Turkish actor is facing serious allegations of assault, which could have a devastating impact on his career as the Italian police have taken up the case. What exactly happened?
Turkish actor Can Yaman is facing charges of assault after allegedly attacking a shop owner in the Italian town of Civita Castellana. The shop owner, Barbara Nelli, claims that Yaman became aggressive after the loud music from her shop disrupted the filming of the second season of his TV series, “Violet as the Sea.”
She filed a formal complaint with the police, accusing Can Yaman of not only verbally abusing her, but also attempting to physically assault her, which left her terrified. Four members of the film crew restrained the enraged man. After the incident, the producers of the series attempted to make amends by offering the woman 600 euros in compensation.
It turned out that filming of the series began in Civita Castellana on September 4, leading to the temporary closure of Piazza Matteotti and the shops in the area. Barbara Nelli stressed that she was unable to receive customers or deliveries, which led to a loss of income. Her complaints to the municipality were unsuccessful.
The incident was witnessed by other shop owners in the area, who are now giving statements to the police. Official representatives of the film company declined to comment on the situation. Nelli’s lawyer, Giuseppe Romano, noted that the offer of compensation was too late, and that the closure of the shops without any compensation was wrong. He also pointed to damage to the shop shutter after the incident, suggesting that it was caused by a kick. According to Romano, his client was shaken by the assault. He also noted that the film crew did not offer any assistance to the woman until she contacted the police.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Can Yaman has been accused of physical violence. He was already convicted by a Turkish court for assaulting his co-star on the TV series “Who Doesn’t Love?” He has also been accused of throwing a camera at a fan on the set of the TV series “The Daydreamer.” However, all of Can’s previous transgressions took place in Turkey, where such behavior is treated more leniently. In Italy, an assault on a woman could cost him his career, and no one will care how justified his demand to turn down the music was. Once he started insulting and throwing punches, it no longer mattered.
