The most popular Turkish series on Netflix in 2023

The digital platform Netflix has released the results of all its original TV shows from January to June 2023. The most viewed Turkish series during this period were:

1. “Who We Were Running From” – 92.9 million watching hours;
2. “Şahmaran” – 83.6 million watching hours;
3. “The Tailor” – 63.9 million watching hours;
4. “Another Self” – 24 million watching hours;
5. “The Protector” – 18.3 million watching hours;
6. “Rise of Empires: Ottoman” – 15.8 million watching hours;
7. “Midnight at the Pera Palace” – 5.6 million watching hours;
8. “As the crow flies” – 5.3 million watching hours;

Interestingly, some shows released in previous years continue to be in demand on Netflix. For example, the first original Turkish series “The Protector / Hakan Muhafız” starring Çağatay Ulusoy, Ayça Ayşin Turan, and Hazar Ergüçlü in lead roles, premiered five years ago, and it still enjoys popularity among platform users. It can confidently be said that without the success of the first project, the Turkish branch of Netflix might have faced the fate of Disney’s Turkish shows, which the platform cancelled, considering the investments unsuccessful. The success of other Netflix original shows is closely related to “The Protector.”
