Battle for Leadership: ‘Golden Boy’ vs. ‘Kızılcık Şerbeti’
The series “Golden Boy,” which impressed millions of viewers with its brilliant start in the previous season, undoubtedly became one of the new hits on Turkish screens. The duo of Afra Saraçoğlu and Mert Ramazan Demir became a revelation, delighting Turkish drama fans with a fresh on-screen chemistry.
However, the second season of “Golden Boy” couldn’t maintain the audience’s attention as it did in the first season. Viewers started showing less interest in the plot of the second season, possibly due to script issues that led to a sudden decline in ratings. Even the participation of an experienced actress like Birnur Kaya couldn’t halt this trend.
As a result, producer Onur Güvenatam decided to bring back the first-season scriptwriter Bariş Güngör, who is concurrently writing the script for another OGM Pictures series, “Yan Oda.” However, despite unexpected plot twists, “Golden Boy” still conceded the top spot on Friday to its competitor, the series “Cranberry Sherbet / Kızılcık Şerbeti.”
In the coming weeks, we can expect an intense competition between these two series for supremacy, with a potential new strong contender entering the fray—the long-anticipated crime series on Fox TV, “Gaddar,” starring Çağatay Ulusoy, set to premiere in early January. It seems the battle for Friday night leadership is shaping up to be intense.
