The Turkish heartthrob conquers the sea: Can Yaman in the role of the legendary pirate

In the Italian town of Lamezia Terme, filming of the new series “Sandokan” is underway, with its premiere expected in 2025. The international cast is directed by director Jan Michelini. The main role in the project is played by Turkish actor Can Yaman. The plot, based on the classic work of Emilio Salgari, promises an exciting journey into the world of maritime adventures and pirates of the 19th century.

We are promised a refreshed soundtrack that will give the series a special atmosphere. The band Calibro 35 is working on a modern interpretation of the musical theme from the eponymous drama of 1976 starring Kabir Bedi in the lead role. Can Yaman’s contract provides for the possibility of creating three seasons in case of the first one’s success.

The premiere of “Sandokan” will take place on the Italian channel RAI. Fremantle is responsible for international distribution, except for Spain, where the rights belong to the Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group. There is intrigue surrounding which specific Mediaset España channel will broadcast the series.

Interestingly, Can Yaman has decided to fully focus on his work and has temporarily suspended his activity on social media.
