A Fan Trip Gone Wrong: How Burak Özçivit Was Kidnapped in Istanbul!
Burak Özçivit has become a symbol of success and professionalism in the world of Turkish television drama, known as “turdizi.” The actor, who has won the admiration of millions of viewers worldwide, continues to grow in his craft, balancing roles in major historical projects with international film productions.
Currently, Özçivit is preparing for the filming of the sixth season of “The Foundation: Osman,” a series that has become a true phenomenon in Turkish television. The story of the rise of the Ottoman Empire, told through the life of its founder Osman I, has captivated audiences not only in Turkey but beyond its borders as well. With each new season, Özçivit’s popularity, in the lead role, continues to soar.
However, the actor’s ambitions extend beyond Turkish cinema. In parallel with his preparation for the new season of the historical project, he is also involved in the international film “Mahmool Makfool.” This Turkish-Emirati film is being produced in collaboration with the Dubai-based company Alamiya.
The plot of the film is unusual: three women from Dubai travel to Istanbul to meet a famous actor, played by Burak Özçivit. What begins as an ordinary fan trip quickly turns into the kidnapping of the star, leading to unexpected and dramatic events. Director Karim Abouzeid and producers Wissam Kattan and Tayfur Aydın aim to create a unique atmosphere by blending Eastern and Western cinematic traditions. The project also features Levent Can and Melih Özkaya.
However, not all the star’s projects have been without issues. The much-anticipated film about Khalid ibn al-Walid, the legendary general and companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), has been temporarily halted. Filming was scheduled to take place in Iran this summer, but it was postponed, likely due to geopolitical reasons. Despite this, interest in the film remains high due to the historical significance of the character and Özçivit’s reputation for excelling in historical roles.
Whatever the next step in his career may be, one thing is clear: Burak Özçivit remains one of the brightest stars in both Turkish and global cinema.
