Did Mehmet Günsür Get a Role Intended for Onur Tuna? New Details on the Conflict
Following the investigation initiated by the Antimonopoly Committee, first targeting producers and then managers, many actors have started speaking out. Onur Tuna drew significant attention with a post he made amidst the discussions about monopolization in the film and television industry. The actor wrote:
“Workers’ rights are like the cries of the oppressed. Gossip doesn’t matter to us. As someone who has worked in this field for 15 years, I can confidently say: meddling with someone else’s livelihood, manipulating situations, judging what doesn’t belong to you, and turning a profession into a display rather than meaningful creativity — this is wrong. It has always been wrong!”
Although Onur did not mention any names, rumors in the industry suggest that his words were directed at Ayşe Barım. Allegedly, the actor believes that she hindered his involvement in the series “My Mother Ankara,” where the role of Hasan ultimately went to Mehmet Günsür.
According to sources, Onur Tuna’s manager, Gülden Avşaroğlu, is also the casting director of “My Mother Ankara” and represents the project’s director, Faruk Teber. Last summer, when Bergüzar Korel, a client of Ayşe Barım, agreed to play the role of Zuhal, Avşaroğlu proposed Onur Tuna for the role of Hasan as her co-star. Director Faruk Teber supported this suggestion, but in the end, Tuna did not secure the role of Hasan, the father of three children.
Following this, the production company BKM began negotiations with other actors, such as Oktay Kaynarca and Ozan Akbaba. However, Kaynarca was unavailable due to his hosting duties on ATV, and Akbaba and Korel reportedly had disagreements over their on-screen compatibility. After lengthy discussions, the role of Hasan was offered to Mehmet Günsür, an actor represented by Ayşe Barım’s agency, who ultimately took the role.
It is believed that these events prompted Onur Tuna to publish his tweet.
