6 new Netflix Turkish projects
Last week Netflix held a press conference for Turkish journalists, at which some of the company’s new projects were presented. Among them are three original shows, one film, the third season of the popular series and one reality show.
The Director of Original Content in Turkey Pelin Diştaş introduced the new projects. She said that this is only part of the shows that Netflix is currently preparing. The company will continue to invest in Turkish film production, presenting the history and modernity of Turkey in 190 countries. Among the submitted projects are:
If Only / Şimdiki Aklım Olsaydı
Produced by Ay Yapım. Created by Ece Yorenç and directed by Cagan Irmak together with Umut Aral. Cast: Ozge Ozpirinci (Reyhan), Birkan Sokullu (Nadir), Burak Yamanturk (Cihan) and others. This is the story of Reyhan. After ten years of marriage with Nadir, she realized that she was unhappy in the marriage, that even her children did not please her, that she was tired of such a life. Suddenly, she gets the opportunity to return to the past, ten years ago, on the very day Nadir asked her to marry him.
Fatma
The producer of the series is Başak Abacıgil. This is the story of a 35-year-old cleaning lady who waited for her husband, who served a term, but he suddenly disappears. In search of a loved one, she accidentally kills a person. When her husband’s accomplices find out about the murder, Fatma has no choice but to continue the killing, and she starts to enjoy it. This is the story of a serial killer who lives an ordinary life and continues to search for her disappeared spouse.
Hot Skull / Sıcak Kafa
The show, which is prepared by the director Mert Baykal is the adaptation of a similar novel by Afsin Kuma, the winner of the Fabisad Gio Ödülleri (Association of Fantastic and Fantasy) in 2016. This is a Dystopia: civilization is facing an epidemic of madness, which is transmitted from person to person through language. The world is gripped by an epidemic of insanity that is transmitted through speech. However, the linguist Murat Siyavus has immunity, which makes him an object of hunting from the side of the epidemic control agency, known for its cruelty. Murat hides from his pursuers and tries to find out the secret of the “hot skull” in Istanbul destroyed by fires.
One way for tomorrow / Yarına Tek Bilet
Netflix bought the rights to release the movie of OG Medya starring Dilan Çiçek Deniz and Metin Akdulger. Work on the film has already been completed and it will be released on June 19. It will be the first original Turkish film on the platform. This is the story of the young couple who had run into each other on a trip from Ankara to Istanbul. The first differences turn into a desire to understand each other and to start a new life together.
Exatlon challenge
Reality show from Acun Medya, which will be filmed in the Dominican Republic. Acun Ilicali makes his own version of the famous reality show, which is watched by 58 million viewers worldwide especially for Netflix. The reality show will be broadcast on the digital platform from July 3.
The Gift / Atiye
The second season of the series starring Beren Saat will be released on Netflix in September this year and in the near future the shooting of the third, final season of the project will begin.
As we see, Netflix is expanding its presence in Turkey, announcing new projects and renewing the shows, that have already received the love of the audience. Who will be the stars of new projects?
