Turkish TV shows as an instrument of Turkish foreign policy
The research center of a state-owned broadcaster TRT World, examined the impact of Turkish TV shows on Pakistani audiences and showed that they have significantly improved Turkey’s image.
Those who watch Turkish TV shows are much more willing to collaborate with Turkish colleagues, learn Turkish, and visit Turkey as tourists. At the same time, 60% of respondents support the foreign policy of Turkey and 85% want to visit the country as tourists or for business purposes. Moreover, the vast majority of respondents associate themselves with the characters in the series, recognizing that their moral values are close and understandable to them.
Thus, Turkish TV shows become part of Turkey’s international policy, which aims to improve the country’s image, increase the flow of tourists and expand economic cooperation with other countries.
