Çağatay Ulusoy in the TV series Yeşilçam?
As is well known, Çağatay Ulusoy is very picky about the scenarios that are sent to him and has so far rejected all offers. This time, however, he seems to get an offer he just can’t refuse, as the actor will have a chance to work with one of Turkey’s most famous directors.
According to journalist Oya Doğan, Es Film, which is preparing the series Yeşilçam for the digital platform Blu TV, has made an offer to Çağatay Ulusoy. The script for the series is written by Levent Cantek, who previously worked on the series Steppe / Bozkir. The director of the project is Çağan Irmak, whose name for many is associated with good Turkish cinema. It was he who made one of the most popular TV series in the history of Turkish television “The House with Grape Vines”, the films “Whisper if I Forget”, “Are We Alright?”, “My Father’s People”.
After the director started following to Çağatay on Instagram, rumors that the actor had accepted the offer turned into hope. Besides, the new image of the actor with a mustache is very similar to the style of the middle of the last century. To see the collaboration of the legendary director and no less legendary actor for Turkish spectators will be a great luck.
However, it is not yet clear whether the series will be produced by Es Film or another production company. Let us remind you that Çağatay rejected the project of Es Film Barbaros, which is being made for the state television channel. Perhaps the journalist’s information was not entirely accurate. The only thing that is known for sure is that the TV show is being prepared for the Blu TV digital platform, which is the leader in terms of the number of subscribers in Turkey, significantly ahead of Netflix and Amazon.
The series is about an important stage in the history of Turkish cinema – the famous epoch of Yesilçam and the stars that have remained in the memory of Turkish viewers to this day. Whether Çağatay will portray a real character of that era or whether it will be a fictional character is not yet known. Previously, there was information that the series will be dedicated to the fate of the famous producer. The first season will consist of 10 episodes.
The well-known journalist Ranini has already confirmed that Çağatay Ulusoy has signed on to a new project, but did not specify whether it was about this series or something else. The announcement of the star’s new work will be made shortly, possibly this week.
