Serkan Çayoğlu and Gülper Ozdemir in the series Cyprus

Good news for fans of Serkan Çayoğlu. The actor begins work on a new series, which will be aired on TRT1 TV channel next spring. Who became Serkan’s co-star in the show and what story awaits us?

Serkan Çayoğlu, who recently joined the successful Engin Aykanat agency, has already found a new work. As it became known, the actor will play the lead role in the series Cyprus / Kıbrıs, which is filmed by TMC Film for the TRT1 TV channel. His co-star in the project will be Gülper Ozdemir, familiar to the audience from the TV series The Lifeline. Ahmet Kural plays the second leading role in the series. His co-star is Pelin Karahan. Directed by Hakan Inan. The reading of the script has already begun.

The series is set in 1963-1974. Recall that in 1963 the first clashes occurred between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots living on the island. The intercommunal confrontation lasted 11 years, military clashes began. In 1974 with the support of the military junta of Greece, radical politicians came to power, heading for the annexation of Cyprus to Greece. In turn, the Turks launched a military invasion of the island. As a result, it was divided into two parts – Greek and Turkish, which remains to this day. These events will be shown in the series.

Filming of the project will start in January. The series will air on the state-owned TRT1 TV channel. There are 26 episodes of 60 minutes planned. It is not yet known when the state channel intends to air the series, possibly next spring.
