Can Yaman: the Italian crisis

Can Yaman

Can Yaman

Can Yaman is very popular in Italy, as evidenced by the big fandom of the actor in this country and the excellent ratings of his series The Daydreamer. However, this week the actor received very unpleasant news: his project was taken off the air. What happened?

The Italian press reports that Can Yaman has been hit hard. The series The Daydreamer, which made him a star in Italy, was removed from the schedule. It is not yet known when and at what time the TV channel Canale 5 may return the TV show to the air.

The reason for such an unexpected decision by the channel’s management is a sharp drop in the rating. On Thursday, January 7, The Daydreamer was watched by 2 million 365 thousand viewers with 11% share. However, a week later, there were 1 million 967 thousand viewers and 9.2% share. These numbers for prime time were too low and the channel’s management immediately canceled the show.

The main reason advanced by the Italian media is the unfortunate love affair with an Italian TV presenter. The Italian fans of the actor were offended and refused to watch the series. However, we note that this is far from the first time that the TV show has been moved along the broadcasting grid depending on the fall or rise in ratings. Moreover, on New Year’s Eve, The Daydreamer took a two-week break because of the holidays.

Most likely, not all is lost for the Turkish project. Let’s hope the channel will return The Daydreamer to the air, albeit not in prime time. Moreover, Italian viewers will soon see the new series Mr Wrong starring Can Yaman. The ratings of this project may decide the fate of the actor in Italy, because another star of the Turkish romantic comedies is on the way – Kerem Bursin, whose series Love is in the air has also been bought for broadcast in this country.

In the meantime, fans of Can Yaman in Italy and Spain express their support for him with a flash mob under the slogan “We are your fandom Can Yaman” and ask him to return to social networks. It is quite possible that the crisis will be overcome in the near future.
