Will Ekin Koç become a co-star of Çağatay Ulusoy?
Ekin Koç is one of the brightest young stars of the Turkish screen. He is receiving increased attention not only from Turkish producers, but also from digital platforms. In the near future we will see the actor in several new projects at once, and some of them promise to become an event in the Turkish show business and not only.
After the unexpected and abrupt final of the popular TV series of TRT1 Awakening: The Great Seljuks, Ekin Koç’s fans were upset. After all, they were hoping to watch their favorite star on the screen for a few more seasons. However, such an actor will not be without a project for long.
As it became known, Ekin was immediately offered the lead role in the TV series Perhaps Once / Elbet Bir Gün, but he rejected the offer. Instead, he began filming the movie Balkaya, directed by Emin Alper, with Selahattin Paşalı as his co-star. Interestingly, the project received 40 thousand euros from the Berlinale World Cinema Fund in support of international film production. The film is being prepared for international film festivals.
Next year, Ekin Koç is expected to work in the second season of the series of the digital platform Blu TV Steppe / Bozkır. The preparation of the script will be completed at the end of October. Filming will begin next summer. The cast will be completely updated except for the main characters.
And now, one more good news. Behind the scenes, rumors appeared that Ekin Koç was negotiating with one of the digital platforms to participate in the project, where his partner would be Çağatay Ulusoy. Some sources claim that this is the first Turkish series of Amazon Prime with Çağatay as a leading star (an agreement with him was signed a year ago). Others argue that Netflix is actually negotiating with Ekin Koç. The producers want Ekin to partner with Çağatay Ulusoy in one of three films in the fantastic big-budget trilogy, The Black Istanbul. Moreover, as they say, although the stories will be different, in all three films it is Çağatay who will play the main role (it was previously stated that he would become the star of only the first film, but it seems that this has changed).
It seems that negotiations with Ekin are really going on, but for which platform and for which project, no one really knows. We just have to wait for the official press release. One thing is clear: Ekin Koç is one of the most demanded young Turkish stars, and fans will see their favorite actor on the screens in the very near future.
