Disney Plus continues to expand its presence in the Turkish market with a number of promising new releases. What TV shows are waiting for platform subscribers this year?
Disney Plus, which opened in Turkey on January 14 last year, has already released a number of very significant shows in the local market. Among them are “Escape”, “Between the world and Us”, “I am gray”, “Recep Ivedik 7”, “New Year’s Eve”, “The Nightingale from Bursa”. The sequel to the popular comedy “Recep Ivedik” alone brought the platform a million subscribers. Not surprisingly, Disney Plus’s managers took a keen interest in working on new TV series and films to be launched this year.
Preparations are underway for the filming of the second season of the series “Personality”, for which Haluk Bilginer received the prestigious Emmy International award. The actor will continue shooting in the second season. This time there will be no police investigation, but in the finale, the audience will still meet with the heroine of Cansu Dere Nevra Elmas.
Disney Plus has acquired the film rights to Orhan Pamuk’s acclaimed novel “The Museum of Innocence”. Recall that the show was originally developed for Amazon Prime and the creators saw only Çağatay Ulusoy in the title role, having signed a preliminary contract with him. However, after the series went to Disney Plus, the question of who will star in the show remains open: Çağatay does not sign binding contracts that limit his further choice of projects.
Work is underway on the adaptation of Ersin Karabulut’s famous comic book series “Underground Stories”, the sequel to the film “Mortal World”, and the film adaptation of the novel “Shakir Pasha’s Family”. The novel tells the real story of a family that gave the Turkish people a number of prominent political and public figures.
The Disney Plus series, produced and directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan, “Money Trap” has been put on hold due to its high budget. Now the series, the budget of which has been cut, is being prepared. The show is due out on set in early summer. Recall that Yılmaz Erdoğan, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, Eda Ece, Cem Yilmaz and Esra Bilgiç will star in the show.
Disney Plus subscribers are expecting the release of the series “Ataturk” starring Aras Bulut İynemli, “Ayten, who changed the world” starring Ezgi Mola, “The Turk” starring Can Yaman, “Actress” starring Pınar Deniz, “Quest” starring Aslı Enver and Mehmet Günsür, “Ru” starring Meryem Uzerli, “Numen” starring Halit Ergenç.
Successful director Zeynep Günay Tan will direct a TV series and a feature film for Disney Plus. Fans are looking forward to what project Cansu Dere will choose. This summer, Hande Erçel will star in MF Yapim’s series “Mermaid”, directed by Yusuf Pirhasan.
